An Ohio gal and a Michigan guy… they met at Chicago’s North Avenue beach through a mutual friend. After getting to know each other through great movies, amazing food and even better wine- they fell in love. It was at Fulton’s restaurant along Chicago’s Riverfront that he mustered up the courage to ask this silly, outgoing, adorable gal to be his wife.
Lisa and Brian braved an uber chilly February Chicago day for this shoot. A February, I might add, that had the most snow in the history of Februarys in Chicago since 1869 – at least that’s what I heard on the radio…, so there was certainly a chill in the air and anyone who has spent any amount of time at Lake Michigan in February knows what I’m talking about! It was so worth it though. The sun was out and the city was ready for a beautiful day. Since Lisa and Brian are getting married in Ohio and are doing some engagement photos there as well, they wanted an engagement shoot full of Chicago landmarks as this was the city that brought them together… so we went exploring to places like North Ave Beach(their fateful meeting place), Chicago Board of Trade, Chicago Theatre and other fun stops and Voila, we got an amazing shoot!
The next day as I was going through the images, Eric and I were talking about how we are always drawn to couples whose relationship revolves around laughter. When I think about it, it’s no huge surprise I suppose, since in our marriage we are always laughing and I truly believe that you what you put out in the world, you attract right back. You know… even growing up, I had always heard that ‘a sense of humor is the most important thing in a relationship’ and it turns out that silly old adages have some merit. There are plenty of things that two people must agree on in a relationship, but when you are with someone where the humor is effortless, life is just lighter and you always seem to be smiling about something, that’s when its works, no matter what life throws at you. Brian and Lisa are always cracking up about something and you just know when you spend time with them, that there is an amazingly expansive future in front of them, full of possibilities.
We are so incredibly happy to have given you both Chicago memories of your engagement. All the best!
