With award season beginning, we anxiously await seeing our favorite celebrities grace the red carpet looking like gods among men. All of the glamour and over the top fashion is as entertaining as the performances they give in order to receive invitations to these events. But while we admire these stars for shining so brightly on the camera, we should take a moment to appreciate the ones whose hearts are as big as their talents.
Through the use of today’s social media, and good old fashioned hard work, some celebrities have chosen to give back to the world. Among the top ten stars named for their generosity and pioneering this year by DoSomething.org are Lady Gaga (holding the number one spot), Justin Beiber, George Clooney, Matt Damon, and the recently divorced Jada Pinkett and Will Smith (so sad). These people have each done remarkable work in different fields. From Gaga’s anti-bullying campaign “Born This Way” to George Clooney’s aid to the Sudan, there is so much love being given back to the world that has given so much to them.
We here at DeAwna McGinley Photography make giving back a major priority in our lives and our business. It is so refreshing to see people that can really affect the world actually taking initiative. We look at these beautiful people for inspiration and strength to believe in a brighter future. We can all give back something to the world around us whether it be a few dollars for Unicef, or a few hours at a shelter. These celebrities may wear designer clothes and live in extravagance, but they understand that no one is entitled to anything in life, and they are doing their part in spreading the love. This type of love isn’t as celebrated or common as the love that we all so desperately hope for in our partners…. this love is bigger and more special than that, and it does good for all of us to take part.
In real love you want the other person’s good. In romantic love you want the other person.
